The House of Hope is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to individuals both within the correctional system and those reintegrating into society. Our mission is to ensure their successful reintegration through a multifaceted, holistic approach. We offer meticulously designed in-prison discipleship training to equip individuals with the essential tools for effective reentry. Our transitional discipleship program provides a secure, faith-oriented environment that fosters spiritual growth and strengthens residents’ relationship with God, facilitating their seamless integration into the community.
Our initiative plays a crucial role during this transitional phase by delivering essential services, including food, shelter, clothes, spiritual development, employment opportunities, and life skills training, all within a framework of personal accountability. Additionally, we establish connections with mentors and support networks, promoting residents' personal development and empowering them to make meaningful, positive contributions to their communities.

In the spring of 1994, a group of dedicated men and women from a local church in Gainesville, Florida, volunteered at a state correctional institution, offering counseling and ministry to incarcerated individuals. Witnessing a troubling cycle of recidivism—where the same individuals they mentored would return to prison—they recognized the urgent need for a structured transitional program. In response, they formed a council to explore the establishment of a prison transitional house, aiming to support men and women reentering society.
During one of their meetings, a guiding scripture emerged as the foundation for their mission: "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12). Inspired by this vision, the group organized a fundraising dinner in the winter of 1994 to lay the groundwork for what would later become the House of Hope.
After months of prayer, planning, and dedication, the House of Hope officially opened its doors in July 1996. Since its inception, the organization has helped hundreds of formerly incarcerated individuals break the cycle of crime and addiction, equipping them to become responsible, successful members of society.
For over 25 years, the House of Hope has remained steadfast in its mission to extend hope to those inside and transitioning out of prison. The impact of this work is profound—graduates of the program have an 88% success rate of never returning to incarceration, transforming lives and strengthening communities.
